Dare County has announced the Manteo Recycle Yard, Dare County C&D Landfill, Buxton Transfer Station, and its other offices will remain closed on Veterans Day, Friday, 10th November, 2023.

The Manteo Recycle Yard, the Dare County C&D Landfill, and the Buxton Transfer Station will reopen on Saturday, 11th November, and operate under normal business hours from 8 AM to 12 PM. All Dare County offices will resume operation from Monday, 13th November.

Dare County Public Works department has also revised its schedule for residential and commercial trash collection for next week due to the Veterans Day public holiday. The department is responsible for trash collection in the county’s unincorporated areas of the county and Kitty Hawk town. The revised schedule, from 6th to 10th November, is as follows;

• Monday (6th November): Kitty Hawk, Colington, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras.
• Tuesday (7th November): Manteo, Wanchese, East Lake, Stumpy Point,  Manns Harbor, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon.
• Wednesday (8th November): Kitty Hawk, Colington, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras.
• Thursday (9th November): Manteo, Wanchese, East Lake, Stumpy Point,  Manns Harbor, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon.
• Friday (10th November): Closed.

Commercial dumpster collection for unincorporated areas and Kitty Hawk town will take place on Monday and Thursday.
