Public CPR class by Hatteras Island Rescue Squad next week

The Hatteras Island Rescue Squad has announced that it will conduct a public Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) class on Thursday, 26th October, at 6:00 PM on Buxton station.

The exercise is part of an extensive effort by the Hatteras Island Rescue Squad to increase public awareness on life-saving medical emergency procedures. Course contents of the class will include adult, child, infant CPR, and the operation of the Automated External Defibrillator. All island residents and property owners will be allowed to participate.

The class is scheduled to last 3 consecutive hours. Entrants will have to pay a fee of $5 to participate, which is the cost for a pocket mask required for the course. Participants can also pay $7 to obtain an optional certificate by the American Heart Association upon completion of the course. All payments will be required to be made physically.

To register, call 252-995-5490. People will not be allowed to participate in the class without prior registration for the course. In the event of participant cancellation from the class, walk-ins are accepted on a space-available basis.
