Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet Rescues Distressed Vessel

On Sunday, April 28, the U.S. Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet medevaced a person with a head injury sustained while fishing approximately 33 miles offshore.

The Coast Guard Cutter Bear first arrived to provide first aid to the injured individual. The person was then transferred to Station Oregon Inlet’s lifeboat, where EMS awaited their return to shore for further treatment.

Later the same day, the Coast Guard received a report about a vessel in distress four miles off the Oregon Inlet sea buoy. A lifeboat crew and engineer quickly responded to assess the situation. The vessel had a disabled engine, prompting the Coast Guard to tow it across the bar and escort it back to its home port.

Both incidents were mentioned in a social media update by Station Oregon Inlet. The post expressed gratitude for the collaboration. “Thank you to Dare County EMS and Coast Guard Cutter Bear for your assistance today!”
