Historic US Election Day: Polling Information; Record Voter Turnout

Polls opened early Tuesday, November 5, as North Carolina voters participate in a historic US election already setting turnout records.

Over 4.2 million voters across the state cast ballots during the in-person early voting period, which closed Saturday. This figure surpasses North Carolina’s previous high of 3.6 million early voters in the 2020 election.

In Dare County, 19,264 ballots have been counted, with 18,106 cast early in person and 1,158 by mail, representing a 56.3% turnout. Meanwhile, Hyde County reported 1,216 total ballots submitted, including 1,147 cast in person and 69 by mail, marking a 38.1% turnout.

Final Day to Vote

Today is the last chance for registered voters in North Carolina to cast their ballots in this election. Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Where to Vote

Voters must go to their assigned precinct to vote and are required to bring photo ID. The public can find their polling location, view sample ballots, and more by using the Voter Lookup Tool on the Board of Elections website.

For residents of Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands, polling locations are as follows:
