Night Driving Restrictions Lift at Select ORV Ramps on Sept. 15

Night driving restrictions at several designated Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) ramps will be lifted starting at 9 p.m. on Sunday, September 15.

This change will allow drivers to access certain areas without time limits.

To find out which ramps will no longer have restrictions, visit the Cape Hatteras National Seashore’s beach access page at go.nps.gov/beachaccess on the afternoon of September 15. The site will also list any ramps that still have opening and closing times due to active sea turtle nests.

As more sea turtle nests hatch, additional ramps will open for night driving. However, restrictions may be reintroduced if new turtle nests are laid. Beachgoers should regularly check the website for the latest updates before heading out at night.

For more information and updates, visit the National Park Service’s beach access page.
