All Dare County offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, September 2, 2024, in observance of Labor Day.

They will reopen on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, under regular operating hours.

The closures include the Dare County C&D Landfill, Manns Harbor Transfer Station, Buxton Transfer Station, and Manteo Recycle Yard. Despite these closures, there will be no changes to the Dare County trash collection schedule on Labor Day.

Dare County Public Works Department will maintain its normal schedule for trash collection from September 2 through September 6, 2024. This applies to unincorporated areas of Dare County and the Town of Kitty Hawk.

Additionally, the Town of Kitty Hawk’s Saturday residential summer trash collection on the east side (ocean side) of the bypass will continue through Labor Day weekend. The final collection will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
