Weather Forecasters Monitor Potential Atlantic Tropical Cyclone
A disturbance in the central tropical Atlantic is being monitored by weather forecasters for potential development. The exact path and strength remain uncertain.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) gave the system a 60% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone within the next seven days. This system is expected to interact with a nearby tropical wave.
“Environmental conditions are forecast to become conducive for gradual development thereafter. A tropical depression could form late this week near the Greater Antilles or the Bahamas. Interests in these areas and the southeastern U.S. should monitor the system’s progress.”
Forecasters at the National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City office emphasized the importance of hurricane preparedness. “This is a reminder to complete our hurricane plans and kits now,” they advised. “Don’t wait until a storm is forecast to hit our area, as it may be too late with supplies running out.”
