Hatteras Island’s Art Scene: Weekly Markets in Full Swing
Visitors and residents who love discovering Hatteras Island’s talented artists have three weekly opportunities to explore the local arts scene. With the return of the Tri Villages Market, Avon Farmers Market, and Old Trent Market, the island is bustling with shopping activity from Tuesdays through Thursdays until Labor Day Weekend and beyond.
Avon Farmers Market
- When: Tuesdays, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Where: Next to the Vacasa office along N.C. Highway 12
The Avon Farmers Market, sponsored by the Avon Property Owners Association, showcases local artists, craftsmen, regional farmers, and homegrown entrepreneurs. This year, the market features a new location near Vacasa and the Avon Post Office. With roughly 50 vendors each week, it runs every Tuesday until September 10.

Tri Villages Market
- When: Wednesdays, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Where: Camp Hatteras Conference Center, or outside on the soundside lawn
The Tri Villages Market features dozens of local artists and makers. Held rain or shine, thanks to Camp Hatteras’ indoor conference center, the market offers handcrafted goodies including local artworks, apparel, handbags, jewelry, and coastal-inspired gifts. The market runs weekly until September 25.

Old Trent Market
- When: Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Where: In front of the Frisco Woods Campground in Frisco
Returning for its third season in 2024, the Old Trent Market continues every Thursday with artists and vendors from across the Outer Banks. Extending into the fall months, it features a distinctive collection of gifts, artworks, apparel, and local crafts.
