Expect significant wave heights of 6 to 10 feet, potentially leading to localized beach erosion and heightened ocean overwash, particularly north of Cape Hatteras in Buxton.
Incident reports confirm ocean overwash occurrences on northern Ocracoke Island around 6:00 AM. Thursday, extending to north Buxton and Pea Island.
N.C. Highway 12 still remains operational across Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands, with the Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry adhering to its regular schedule.
Stay vigilant during high tide, expected at approximately 6:15 PM Thursday and 6:45 AM Friday on Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands.
At present, minimal soundside water level elevations are projected over the forthcoming days.
