Missing Body Found in Rodanthe After 18-hour Search
On Wednesday evening, February 14, a missing body was found in Rodanthe, concluding an exhaustive 18-hour search.
The search commenced following a missing person report around 11 PM on Tuesday, February 13.
Multiple agencies, including the Dare County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Coast Guard, and National Park Service, mobilized for an extensive area-wide search.
Volunteers scoured miles of shoreline from Pea Island to Buxton, while the U.S. Coast Guard conducted a helicopter search.
A local citizen drone located the missing body in a Rodanthe marsh around 6:00 PM on Wednesday, who promptly notified the authorities.
Authorities transferred the body to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Greenville, North Carolina. They have not disclosed the missing person’s identity.
The Dare County Sheriff’s Department continues its investigation into the incident.
