Dare County has released detailed guidelines regarding the disposal of Christmas trees for the six towns and other areas under its jurisdiction.

The released guidelines come in the form of a video by Dare County’s YouTube channel.

The schedule for the collection of disposed Christmas trees is given below. Towns visited by Dare County for collection should place disposed trees at curbsides before scheduled collection days.

1. Manteo
   Alongside regular sanitation sweeps on Mondays and Thursdays.
   
2. Duck
   Monday, January 8th, and Monday, January 15th, 2024.
   
3. Southern Shores
   Alongside regularly scheduled pickups for each sector.
   
4. Kitty Hawk
   Alongside trash collection on normally scheduled days,
   OR at arrangement by Better Beaches: Ocean Boulevard Bistro, 4700 N., Virginia Dare Trail, Kitty Hawk.
   
5. Kill Devil Hills
   Beginning from Wednesday, January 10th, 2024.
   
6. Nags Head
   Collected alongside monthly curbside bulk item collection service.
   
7. Hatteras Island
   Christmas trees to be dropped off at the Dare County Public Works Recycling Center, 1018 Driftwood Drive, Manteo
   OR Dare County’s C&D Landfill located, 1603 Cub Road, Manns Harbor
   OR at Buxton Transfer Station, 47027 Buxton Back Road, Buxton.
   
   Hatteras Island is classified as an unincorporated area, which includes: Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras Village; the Dare County mainland’s East Lake, Manns Harbor, Mashoes and Stumpy Point; Roanoke Island’s Wanchese; Colington; Martins Point.
