Dare County, N.C. – All Dare County offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29, in observance of Thanksgiving, 2024. Regular operations will resume on Monday, December 2.

The closures include the Dare County C&D Landfill in Manns Harbor, the Buxton Transfer Station, and the Manteo Recycle Yard. These facilities will reopen on Saturday, November 30, with regular hours.

Trash Collection Adjustments for Thanksgiving 2024

Dare County Public Works has announced changes to trash collection for unincorporated areas and the Town of Kitty Hawk during Thanksgiving week. Residential collection will occur only once per area, with no pickups on Wednesday, November 27, Thursday, November 28, or Friday, November 29.

Revised Residential Trash Collection Schedule:

• Monday, November 25: Kitty Hawk, Colington, Buxton, Frisco, and Hatteras.
• Tuesday, November 26: Manteo, Wanchese, Skyco, Manns Harbor, Mashoes, East Lake, Stumpy Point, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, and Avon.

Regular residential collection will resume the following week:

• Monday, December 2: Kitty Hawk, Colington, Buxton, Frisco, and Hatteras.
• Tuesday, December 3: Manteo, Wanchese, Skyco, Manns Harbor, Mashoes, East Lake, Stumpy Point, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, and Avon.

Commercial Dumpster Collection Schedule:

• Monday, November 25.
• Wednesday, November 27.

Regular commercial collection will also resume on Monday, December 2.
