Water Outage and Boil Advisory for Hatteras Village
The Dare County Water Department has announced an expanded water outage in all of Hatteras Village.
Originally set to affect customers from Eagle Pass to the ferry dock, the outage now impacts the entire village.
Water service is expected to resume by 6:30 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024. Contractors working to replace the Slash Creek Bridge on N.C. Highway 12 are completing essential connections to the new water line, necessitating the disruption.
Boil Water Advisory after Water Outage Restoration
Following the restoration, a boil water advisory will be in effect for all Hatteras Village customers until 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024. The Water Department advises residents to boil water for one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or making ice. Bottled water is also recommended as a safe alternative.
Once service is back, water samples will be taken to confirm quality across the affected area. The advisory will remain in place until tests confirm water safety. Residents will receive an update if the advisory continues beyond the scheduled time.
