Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation Raises $6,500 at Brunch
The Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation (HICF) hosted a lively St. Patrick’s Day Brunch, attracting residents, visitors, and a fashionable crowd reminiscent of “Three’s Company” character Mrs. Roper.
Attendees enjoyed live music by Rory Kelleher, mimosas, and a full buffet. The event, which sold out, also featured a Selfie Station, a Bloody Mary bar, and raffles with prizes from local businesses.
Donna Barnett, HICF Vice President, expressed satisfaction with the event’s success, noting it raised an estimated $6,500 for the foundation. As a result, the brunch will become an annual tradition alongside other HICF fundraisers.
Established in December 2000, HICF is a volunteer-driven non-profit supporting cancer patients and their families on Hatteras Island. Its primary goal is to raise funds for medical bills, prescriptions, travel expenses, and other needs not covered by insurance.
To date, HICF has assisted over 234 islanders with cancer, providing grants exceeding $1,000,000.
“We’re thrilled with the turnout and generosity at the St. Patrick’s Day Brunch,” Barnett said. “It was a memorable event, and we’re grateful for the community’s support.”
