Frisco Village’s Annual Christmas Light Festival 2023

The Christmas Light Festival at Frisco Woods Campground has been ongoing since 3rd December and will continue till Friday, 15th December.

The tour of the Christmas Light Festival is open from 5 PM to 9 PM.

The event has thousands of lights, skeletal holiday pirates, and replicas of characters from A Christmas Story and Charlie Brown. All these sights make the festival one of the biggest and brightest displays on Hatteras Island.

The Christmas Light Festival is a tour event hosted by the Frisco Woods Campground and the Frisco-Buxton Pathway Committee. Each $5 donation from the event goes towards funding for the construction of the Frisco-Buxton pathway.

The Frisco-Buxton pathway project was first proposed and showcased at an open house held on 21st March, 2019. The pathway will run parallel to N.C. Highway 12, and extend from Buxton’s Valero Gas Station to Frisco’s Bathhouse Beach Access. A privately funded portion of the pathway began construction in fall 2023. This portion, measuring 1,400 ft., runs near Frisco Woods Campground to the Little Grove United Methodist Church near Piney Ridge Road in Buxton.

The project is led by the Frisco-Buxton Pathway Committee and the Outer Banks National Scenic Byway Committee for Dare County. The two have been previously instrumental in effecting pathway projects in Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Hatteras. Buxton and Frisco are the only remaining villages on Hatteras Island without a village-wide pathway.
