Fire at Salvo surf shop extinguished; no injuries reported

According to a recently started GoFundMe account for the building’s owners, Bob and Tanya Hovey as well as the people living above the business, a fire that happened at Duck Village Outfitters in Salvo on Wednesday, August 3, was doused overnight, and no one was injured.

We must now begin the arduous task of repairing the damage done to our community. An ad for the campaign argues that the inhabitants have lost everything and are now homeless and that the employees who have families to support need aid.

Ashley and Aaron, Hayden, and Carter, the folks who lived above the business, would really appreciate your aid. Manager Mike and Shane are also workers.

On Thursday morning, the source of the blaze was still a mystery. When new information becomes available, we will put it here.

According to various sources, a fire broke out at Salvo’s Duck Village Outfitters, a surf and watersports business, on August 3rd.

The Chicamacomico Banks Fire & Rescue Department arrived on the scene within minutes of the fire starting, according to witnesses. There were also other local groups involved in responding to the situation as of 9 pm, including the Avon Volunteer Fire Departments and Dare County Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

Delays and emergency vehicles at the location can be avoided by using Colony Drive, which runs alongside N.C. Highway 12, as a diversion in Salvo.

The first floor of the building is occupied by a surf shop, and the upper floors are rumored to include flats.
